Afterpay is used by 20,255 active Shopify stores, 3.3% of the 614,243 stores we track (October 2026). That ranks it number 2 of 4 buy now, pay later technologies we detect, by number of stores. Across all buy now, pay later tools we track, it accounts for 18.3% of installs. Notable stores using it include Pilgrim India, Fashion Nova, JB Hi-Fi. Australia has the most stores using it (7,199, or 22.4% of that country's active Shopify stores), while adoption is highest in New Zealand, where 25.2% of stores use it. Stores that run Afterpay most often pair it with Meta Pixel (77.6% of them) and Google Analytics 4 (67.4%). We detect Afterpay from the scripts and Shopify web pixels it adds to a store's homepage, so stores that only use it on checkout or in the Shopify admin are not counted. Counts refresh with every crawl of the full store list.
